Literature Text

Haley knew it would be stupid to resist Niklaus Mikaelson anything, so she did as she was told and climbed into the front seat of his vehicle.

Klaus shut the door and walked around to the driver’s seat. “Buckle up, Little Wolf,” Klaus reminded her.

Haley buckled up. “Are you really just going to leave Rebekah and Elijah?” she asked as he drove down the driveway.

“They left me first” was all he said.

“Why me?” Haley asked. “Why are you taking me?”

“Because Little Wolf, that little one growing inside you is my heiress,” Klaus told her.

Haley stared at him. “Do you really think I’m just going to leave her with you?” she asked.

“No,” Klaus answered surprising Haley with that response. “You won’t leave because you wouldn’t leave your child.” He stopped at a red light. “A mother wolf doesn’t leave her cub helpless if she believes it to be in danger.”

Haley stared out the window as Klaus drove into the Quarter and realized what Klaus’s deepest fear really was. She realized Klaus loves Elijah and Rebekah, even though they’ve betrayed him for what they believed to be acting on what would be good best for him. She realized that even she believed the worst of him he loves her too as well as their unborn child.

Haley looked back over at Klaus. “Maybe you should show the ones you love that you love them, Klaus,” Haley said. “Because Elijah’s right about this.”

“And what’s that, Little Wolf?” Klaus asked annoyed that he’s going to have his brother’s words thrown at him again.

“We’re stronger together as a family,” Haley said including herself in on as his family. “We may be your weakness, Klaus, but we’re also your strength.” Haley took Klaus’s hand and laid it on her belly. “She is, too.”
